Our show at the UMFA this last September is listed as a top ten moment in the arts here in Utah. We are thrilled!
“One of the most imaginative concerts of the year, Red Desert presented more than 80 years of experimental music in a continuous stream that ultimately comprised a one-hour composition. The Utah performance followed two recent appearances in New York City. The concert was presented in the Great Hall gallery of the Utah Museum of Fine Arts – a fitting venue.
As The Utah Review explained, “the order and the selected works were curated carefully. Experimentalism is not haphazard nor is it trivial nor a novel curiosity. Indeed, the Red Desert performance offered an enlightening perspective of how experimentalism shapes and affirms new sounds and techniques in the long game approach of reaching musicians and listeners.”
My performance of Lucie Vitkova’s FIVE (the only time I played it on bass clarinet) and Devin Maxwell playing Pauline Oliveros from our live concert at Wind River in Santa Cruz, California last February are featured on this year’s ESSENTIAL INDEXICAL album! Get it!!

I’m an artist-in-residence at the Estalagem da Ponta do Sol Residency for Contemporary Music and Electronics. I’m super, super, super, super excited to head to Portugal for the first time for this amazing residency. I’ll be bringing several works for bass clarinet and electronics including Lucie Vitkova’s FIVE and Devin Maxwell’s Cloudseeding 4. I’ll be working with composers and performers as part of Patricia Alessandrini’s Altelier for Live Electronics, Performance and Improvisation.

I’m playing bass clarinet on Michael Pisaro’s ‘Helligkeit, die Tiefe hatte, nicht keine Flåche’. We recorded last year in the wonderful chapel at Wesleyan.
